Atlee Burpee Co., Philadel- phia, Pa., was the guest of honor at a dinner given at the Union League, that city, February 6, by David Burpee, pres- ident, and W. Atlee Burpee, Jr., of the company. The affair was in apprecia- tion of Mr. Bougy's thirty-five years' service with the concern. The assistant treasurer began with the Burpee concern as an office boy. So small was the business when he started to work for the company that no books were kept. Mr. Bougy opened the first set of books and has had charge of the accounting department ever since. It was brought out at the dinner that the warm weather has had an effect upon the buyers, causing them to order considerably more numerously than usual for this time of the year.
