Triumph TR3 Roadster - model manufactured between 1956 and 1961

The Triumph TR3 replaced the TR2 in October 1956. It was similar to the TR2, but had a different grille and headlights and power output was increased to 95bhp. The TR3 became the first sports car in its class to be fitted with disc brakes at the front. In 1957 the TR3 was updated and referred to as the TR3A although this was never used officially. Special fibreglass versions of the TR3A were built in 1959 for the 24-hour Le Mans endurance Race but unfortunately due to mechanical problems, all of the three cars failed to finish. In 1961 TR3 production was terminated and the new TR4 designed by Michelotti was introduced however the car was more expensive sales were low especially in the US where the TR3 had been very popular. Triumph reacted by placing the TR3 back into production for the US only but with the TR4 engine and gearbox and referred to it as the TR3B
