Green iguana (Iguana iguana). This large species of arboreal lizard is native to Central and South America. It has an extensive range and is also found in the Caribbean islands, Hawaii and as far north as Florida and Texas. The flap of skin beneath its lower jaw is known as a dewlap. The iguana uses this to appear threatening or to impress females. Photographed on Bonaire, Netherland Antilles.
