Two farmers check their crop of sugar cane in Nakorn Ratchasima province, Thailand.

Sugar cane being burned in Nakorn Ratchasima province, Thailand to make for easier handling and harvesting. This also clears the area of snakes. After harvesting, the cane is loaded onto a truck for transporting to a factory where it will be converted into ethanol for biofuel. Thailand is very progressive in respect of alternative fuels for transport and also uses butane gas for many of its large truck fleets. February 2011
