Enchanted City of Cuenca (Spain)


Situated in the pedestrian area of Valdecabras (CUENCA), in the heart of the Natural Park of the Serranía de Cuenca and surrounded by immense pine trees, the Enchanted City is undoubtedly one of the most spectacular places in Spain, where you can get to know and learn about it geological process of the karst and admire its capricious formations. TTe Enchanted City was declared a Natural Site of National Interest on June 11, 1929. Its origin dates back to 90 million years ago, when the Enchanted City formed part of the bottom of the Thetis Sea. At the end of the Cretaceous and as a consequence of the Alpine orogeny, the sea receded and the marine bedding, composed of hot stone, emerged to the surface.
