Those of the Missouri region are considered avariety of the Michigan species, and differ but little fromthat form in appearance. The grayling, as a rule, does not leap out of the waterwhen the angler is trying to land it, but rather floundersabout in positions that are even more liable to tear the hookfrom its tender mouth than would the act of leaping.
