This species seems to be distributed as far as Oaxaca (Mexico) in the northern part of Neotropical region. This species is close to S. tipuloides (Degeer) and S. americana sp. n. but can be separated by parallel-sided head, by uniformly thin, straight and long paraclypeae, which are rounded at the apices and by the lack of black spots on the posterior angles of Figs. 101-105.
