WHITBY, North Yorkshire, UK. bill 1837 with signature of Francis Pickernell (the commissioners of Whitby piers) from the Barrick Shipyards(Henry and George Barrick) for elm planks, fir treenails(wooden fixing pegs) ,oakum, tar, pitch, whale oil, dock hire,set wedges, use of tools and bolts, spikes, nails etc. Pickernell was Dock Engineer and Francis Pickernell was engineer for the Trustees of the Whitby Piers ,1822-1861. He rebuilt the west pier and designed the present lighthouse upon it. In 1823 he married the daughter of Isaac Marwood and died at 5, Normanby Terr. aged 74 years in1871
