Nos. 1786, to 1776 should be sown from any time in July to 1st of August; but the other kinds, for Winter use, may be sown from middle of July to end of August Turnips are generally sown broad- cast, but much larger crops are obtained (par- ticularly of the Ruta Bagas) by cultivating in drills eighteen inches apart, and thinning to .six inches in the drill one pound to the RED TOP GLOBE TURNIP. WHITLOOF—Whitloef. 1784 Brussels Rooted Chicory per lb., $2 00 ; per oz., 25 cents. Culture.—Sow in Spring, in drills a foot apart, and transplant in Fall to a trench one foot wide and deep ; set the plants about an inch apart after having cut the leaves off to within two inches of the root. The trench is then covered with soil to the depth of six or eight inches, and afterwards with manure. I
