Coast Guard Radiomen in Invasion of Southern France. Serving aboard a Coast Guard fighting ship, ship-to-shore radio setups keep commanders posted in final rehearsals for the invasion of Southern France. These Coast Guardsmen were in there when Allied forces established a new beachhead on French Mediterranean shores. They are (left to right): Gordon Allison, radioman, of Renova, Pa.; William J. Byron, radioman, the Bronx, NY; and Wayne R. Alvey, rakioman, of Bloomington, Ill.
