This suggests that the midge Clunio inhabiting the seacoast of the Inland Sea is a single species. But which species? To determine whether the collected specimens are C. tsushimensis or C. aqui/onius, the data in Figure 2 were compared with those obtained by Hashimoto (1968, 1969) in the Izu Peninsula, Shizuoka Prefecture.
