Instituted the order of the Garter1349. His son, the Black Prince, defeatedthe French at the battle of Poictiers, 19 Sept.,. 1356, and brought King John prisoner to Lon-don, where he remained nearly five years (forfurther particulars, see Royal Lineage, Foster sPterage). The King died at Sheen, Surrey, 21June, 1377, having had issue ; their descendant ANNE BLENNERHASSETT (eldestdaughter of Capt. John Blennerhassett, ofCastle Conway, co. Kerry, known as Black Jack(see page 593B), born 24 Jan., 1694; married1st, to Denis MGillicuddy, of Carrabeg, whodied 1730; she re-married, Jan., 1731, toThomas Herbert, of Currens ; by her 1st hus-band she had 4 sons and 3 daughters. Denis MGillicuddy, born 15 Nov., 171S; died [2] Cornelius, of whom presently.[3] John, born 26 Jan., 1727 ; died [4] Philip, born 10 Feb., 1729 ; died [5] Avice Catherine.[6] Mary.[7] Elizabeth. ^ORNELIUS MGILLICUDDY, born ^~* 1720; died ; married 16 July, 174S) Catherine, 5th daughter of Richard Chute, Esq., of Tulligaron, co.
