Theinterior of a British Museumkylix, E. 78 (Fig. 134), showsa youth in the act of bindingthe thong on his right arm,pulling the end tight with hisleft hand. In this case itseems that the fingers arebound first, and the thong isfastened round the a amphora (Fig. 135)representing a later type ofglove the order appears to be reversed. The meilichai were the only form of boxing glove used inthe sixth and fifth centuries, and they continued in use, at allevents for practice in the palaestra,
