Southport, Merseyside, UK. 14th April, 2015. UKIP Southport prepare for Neil Hamilton, UKIP Deputy Chairman (previously a controversial Conservative MP who is to address members pre-election meeting held in the Royal Clifton Hotel.

A shock study found one in five Conservative voters will defect to Nigel Farage’s party next May in a major blow to Prime Minister David Cameron. The British Election Study claimed the anti-Europe party will be far more dangerous to the Tories than to Labour. Labour had already alienated many working class voters during Tony Blair’s spell as leader, which ended in 2007, the survey said. According to the findings, many people who have switched to Ukip backed the Conservatives at the 2010 General Election. Lead researcher Geoff Evans, from Oxford University, said: “The data shows quite clearly that it’s the Conservative Party who need to worry most about the threat of Ukip – because those people who supported Labour have, in the main, already made the switch.”
