Paranthropus boisei hominid. Artwork of the head of Paranthropus boisei (previously Australopithecus bosei), based on skull OH5 found at Olduvai Gorge, Tanzania, in 1959 by Mary Leakey. The skull dates to million years ago. P. boisei forms part of the human evolutionary tree, though a divergent branch to that which led to modern humans.
