Plant not less than 18 inches apart in rows or in masses in beds. When the plants are about a foot high the tops should be pinched out to induce a bushy growth. They prefer a rather light, not too rich soil, but do well almost anywhere. The Autumn Giant sorts produce the finest flowers, but bloom late, and for points north of Phila- delphia it is safer to get the extra early flowering type; the double flowering type is becoming ver> popular. Elxtra Early Colossal or Midsummer Giant Cosmos Seeds sown in the open ground .â Xpril 27th produced plants that were covered with bloom July 20th, two months before the late-flowering kinds.
