In September of the same year Mr. Brackett beganthe study of law in the office of Pond & French atSaratoga Springs, N. Y. He made rapid progress inmastering the intricate subject, and was admittedto the bar at Elmira, N. Y., in June, 1875. OnApril 1 of the next year he entered into partnershipwith the firm in whose office he had studied fact is significant that his old preceptors invitedhim to practice with them, and their confidence in the young man was not misplaced. The firm ofPond, French & Brackett carried on a large businessfor twelve years, and became one of the strongestand most successful legal associations in the three years after April 1, 1888, Messrs.
