Albany was participating in a Multilateral Undersea Warfare (USW) exercise conducted in the Naval Forces Central Command/Commander Fifth Fleet area of responsibility. The exercise's objective was to promote Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) interoperability between the United States, coalition, and other multinational forces operating in the region.
