Transactions . own deposits of valuable or useful minerals inthe more remote and inaccessible parts of the Dominion, west ofHudson Bay. The time may not be inopportune to again review our know-ledge of the mineral resources of northern Canada, includingunder that designation, not only the Barren Lands, but in a generalway all those parts of the country which are north of, and remotefrom, the main lines of transportation. It is thought that such a review may be interesting and use-ful to the mining men of Canada, and may form a useful recordin the Journal of the Canadian Mining Institute. No attempt at originality is here made. Many of the state-ments offered have already been recorded in the two papers abovementioned, but some additional information, which has been ob-tained in the past ten years has been added. In such a review it is not necessary to include the gold fieldsof the Klondike, or the silver mines of the Cobalt district ofNorthern Ontario, as those have already been very fully discussed. No. 1.
