This is a sale contract between two marines for a seven year old Mesopotamian boy, Abbas (also given the Greek name Eutyches). Quintius Julius Proscus, a trumpeter who probably captured the boy on a campaign, made the sale of Caius Fabullius Macer - a centurions assistant - for 200 denarii (over a third of Macer’s annual salary) Enslaved boys could become a soldier’s groom
