1911 - One of the1st purpose built cinemas in Britain , The Blake Brothers Picturedome at Hitchen Herts, is shown decorated for the coronation of George V and his wife Mary as king and queen of the United Kingdom (and the British Empire). The brothers had already opened their first Picturedrome in Bedford . Jim and Archie Blake photographic businessmen chose Hitchen for their second purpose-built cinema. The 400 seat cinema first opened around March 1911.
