Electromagnetic compatibility test. Car inside an anechoic chamber, a chamber designed for minimum reflection of waves. The equipment at upper right and left is being used to recreate a wide range of electromagnetic radiation that the car might experience during use. Interference between these sources of electromagnetic radiation, such as onboard electrical systems, radios, computers, mobile phones and remote-locking key systems, must all be avoided or minimised. The use of certain parts of the electromagnetic spectrum are strictly regulated, and the car must not breach such rules. This Renault Picasso is being tested at UTAC, the French certification organisation.
