Illustration of the Judgment of Solomon, a story from the Bible in which King Solomon of Israel ruled between two women both claiming to be the mother of a child. Solomon suggested cutting the baby in two, with each woman to receive half. The false mother approved of this, while the real mother begged for the child's life. From Le Catholique (1845).
