It is quite com-mon in Europe, in thelarger establishments, todivide the work in thisway among the special-ists, whose talents aredirected and combinedby the chief draughts-man. Other examples ofFrench Furniture Silkare illustrated on page194. These came fromthe famous factory atBeauvais, and althoughthe patterns are verymuch less elaborate thanthe former specimen, theyare fully as good specimen on the right hand of the page is a particularly effective pieceof work. The plant has been conventionalized with such skill that each phase. INDUSTRIAL ART. 199 and aspect of its life has been preserved, and leaf, bud, blossom, and flowerintroduced with excellent effect.
