ITALY : EIGHTH ARMYMOBILE ARTILLERY - The "Stiffkey Stick" takes its name from the village in which it was invented. Sgt. G. Barnett of Alexander Avenue, Failsworth, Manchester, moves the sights by means of hand-controls and aim-off for the speed of the aircraft and for its vertical deflection. An aircraft always appears to a gun crew to be flying in a giant semi-circle. The"Stiffkey Stick's" allowance for vertical deflection compensates for this. Photographic negative , British Army
