A nice landing. West Yorkshire, UK: STUNNING PICTURES show a long-eared owl close up, enjoying the last few rays of sunlight as it soars through the sky. One image shows the owl flying from behind, its wings lit up by the sun making them look like angel wings. The long-eared owl is the rarest owl species in Britain, with a population of just 4,000. They grow up to 13 inches long and weigh up to 435 grams. These images were captured by photographer David Driver in west Yorkshire, UK. ?This rare sighting of the elusive Long-eared owl was shot recently in west Yorkshire,? said David. ?Not often seen, especially in flight, it is the rarest of the five species of owl found in the UK. ?Long-eared Owls are secretive, nocturnal, and superbly camouflaged they seem to wear a surprised expression thanks to long ear tufts that typically point straight up like exclamation marks. ?These nocturnal hunters roost in dense foliage, where their camouflage makes them hard to find, and forage over grasslands for small mammals. ?Long-eared Owls are nimble flyers, with hearing so acute they can snatch prey in complete mediadrumimages/DavidDriver
