A rare example of a multi-span cast-iron bridge. Spa Bridge is situated near the Grand Hotel at Scarborough and, built as a road bridge, is now limited to pedestrian traffic. Each of the four spans measures 66ft 6in across. The arches have open, radial spandrels which create an airy impression above the weighty masonry piers, from which the sets of four arch-ribs spring. This sense of lightness is enhanced by the open parapet railings above. The rectangular stone piers, slightly tapered from their bases upwards, are elegantly finished in panelled ashlar with moulded imposts.
