A "Vital Voice" video remote (VRI) interpreter screen is installed in the emergency room (ER) of a Southern California hospital to enable communication in a variety of languages. VRI is a videotelecommunication service that uses devices such as web cameras or videophones to provide sign language or spoken language interpreting services to communicate with persons with whom there is a communication barrier.
