A common butterfly of gardens and allotments, a small white butterfly (Pieris rapae) is resting overnight on an aquilegia flower head. The caterpillars are plain green in colour feeding on brassicas and sometimes seen as a pest by vegetable growers. Photographed in Somerset, UK, in May.
