The pain, at first very slight, gradually increases,and is generally most severe at the inner part of the joint, particularly over theinner condyle. The patella is often considerably dis-placed, and foreign bodies, or cartilaginous concretions, may occasionally be de-tected in the joint. The diagnosis is based upon the chronicity of the disease, the absence of anytendency to suppuration, the marked eversion of the leg, the dislocated appear-ance of the knee, the singular condition of the ligament of the patella, whichforms a distinct band in front of the joint, and the
