Souvenier du Congress—Large to very large, resembling the Bartlett in form: yellow with bright red on the exposed side, high flavor, simi- lar to the Bartletr; continues in bearing August until in September. , Idaho—(New) Very large, yellow, best quality; season of ripening late autumn. 'I'he ])lnm tree, in well prepared soil, is free from disease, except occasionally the black knot, an(i this is easily remedied by severe cutting away in the early stages. The fruit is usually troubled with the curculio, a small dark brown beetle, causing- it to dropoff. This can be prevented.
