= Statue of Minin and Pozharsky After Snowfall in Winter Twilight = Night view of the monument to citizen Kozma Minin and Prince Dmitri Pozharsky in the background of beautiful onion domes of remarkable St. Basil’s Cathedral after snowfall at the beginning of the winter season in the twilight. The monument to the heroes of the national struggle for liberation against the Swedish and Polish invaders in 1610-1612 was designed by the famous sculptor, Ivan Martos, and erected in the middle of the Red Square in 1818 as the city's first monumental sculpture. The impressive stature showing citizen Minin pointed his arm towards the Kremlin urging his comrade to liberate Moscow was moved in 1931 to St. Basil’s Cathedral to make a way for military parades on the main square of the country, so the meaning of the hero’s gesture has been lost.
