Stone. SASKAT-. REGINA.—Saskatchewan game wardens are making anattempt to establish a partridge colony in the Cypress Hillsdistrict, in the south-western part of the Province. The number of men permanently employed on the Provin-cial Police staff is now 1 c;6, of whom 66 are former members ofthe Royal North-West Mounted Police, and 83 are returnedsoldiers. Since the close of the war 82 per cent, of theappointments made to the force have been given to returnedsoldiers. On the relief of unemployed during the winter of 1920-21 Moose Jaw spent $7,453, Regina $10,540, and Saskatoon $1,532. A total of 342 domestics have been brought to Saskatche-wan under the Governments assisted passage scheme. Thetotal amount advanced to such domestics as loans was $29,263,and of this amount $24,190 has been repaid. SASKATOON.—The purchase by the Hudsons Baj Companyof the Saskatoon departmental stores of J. F. Cairns, Ltd., isannounced. Ill-
