Evening Dharawal State Conservation Area, Darkes Forest NSW Australia

Clouds are always an image maker. They not only cover a blank blue canvas but provide interest, drama, and mood. Coupled with the right light and wow. It took a while for this image to form. Initially I thought the reflection in the foreground would do it but no. I had time so I stood there and observed for a while, then employed my manual zoom lens ie my legs. Us old school Large Format, prime lens users find old lessons hard to give up. Even though I'm using a high tech medium format digital back its coupled to one of the finest all manual technical cameras available, the only lenses available for use are Large Format Prime lenses. The reason, image quality. Once I found this position it was just a matter of attaching the right grad, take a test shot to tweak the composition and wait for the sun to set and the clouds to absorb that glorious light. Shots taken 3, one to test composition one to test exposure and the final image. Alpa 12SWA, Schneider 24mmXL, Leaf 75s, .9NDGrad, f11@1sec
