Alongside this wire, a channel pin was driven in. The objection to the channel pin was the small area of contact between the copper l)ond and rail. Next after the channel pin came the Chicago type of bond, Fig. ,S1, which is a jMece of heavy copper wire with thimbles forged on the ends. These tliimbles were placed in accurately fitted holes
