Giuson gun weighs kg. ; of the Hotchkiss, kg. ; of the Krupp, kg., and of the Maxim, reason for the very high initial velocity is found in thegreat length of the bore of the Canet gun, and in the use of avery slow-burning powder. While the 57-mm. Gtiison, Krupp,Maxim and Hotchkiss rapid-fire guns have bores of the lengthsof 20, 30, 42 and 44 calibers respectively, the Canet has alength of bore of So calibers.
