TX USA Padre Island National Seashore brown pelicans ( Pelecanus occidentalis) in flight
Starting at Corpus Christi the northern part of the island is first a county park then stretches for 66 miles as the Padre Island National Seashore. With federal seashore status Padre Island is protected from development and beachgoers can gain a glimpse of dunes vegetation shells driftwood and the like all in their natural state. There's even a part of the island that is accessible only with a 4-wheel drive vehicle.
