Bureau of Mines INo, 4 Quartzfeldspar porphyry There are some outcrops of quartz-feldspar porphyry (granite porphyry) whichhave been grouped with the Keewatin. This porphyry occurs chiefly around Goodfishlake and to the south of this lake. The rock has a grey color and a whitish weather-ing surface in which quartz phenocrysts are quite conspicuous. The porphyry intrudesthe greenstone, but is older than the Timiskaming conglomerate, since there arepebbles of the porphyry in the conglomerate on the north shore of Garni lake. Thisconglomerate is isolated from the main area of Timiskaming rocks but is consideredto be part of the series. The porphyry is somewhat schistose, like other members ofthe Keewatin, and is similar to certain porphyries described in the Porcupine goldarea. It is an older rock than the reddish and greyish feldspar-porphyry found nearthe Tough-Oakes mine. Un
