The Royal Navy during the Second World War A completed LCT is commissioned, cheered on by women workers who helped to build her. The craft was built at Alloa, Rosyth, a shipyard which had formerly been derelict since 1918 but brought back into operation during the Second World War. 60%% of the shipyard workers were women and the Yard was credited with building and launching landing craft faster than any other yard in Great Britain. Assembling pre-fabricated craft on four berths, one craft had been launched every seven days for the past two months.
