DAVID Krause, Jr., the youngest son of DavidKrause and Regina Orth, was born Nov. 2, 1800, at Journal, which he conducted with much ability. InJanuary, 1845, a vacancy occurring in the Mont-gomery and Bucks County judicial district, was appointed to that bench. He filled theposition acceptably and honorably, but, in 1851,when the judiciary became elective, he positivelydeclined the office. He then retired to private 1862, and again in 1863, upon the invasion ofPennsylvania by the Confederates, he volunteered asa private soldier in the Pennsylvania militia, althoughthen in the sixty-third year of his age. He died atNorristown, on the 13th of June, 1871. Judge Krausemarried, in September, 1825, Catharine Orr, of Phila-delphia, who survived her husband four IB £~ Lebanon. He was educated under Rev. Mr. Ernst,of the Lutheran Church at Lebanon, and subse-quently studied law with Hon. Jonathan Walker, ofPittsburgh, and there admitted to the bar. He re-turned to Lebanon, and began practice. He cameto Harrisburg as the private secretary of GovernorShulze, and was admitted to the Dauphin courts ,1825. He was appointed deputy attorney-generalin August, 1826, and reappointed in 1829. From1825 to 1826, with Gen. Simon Cameron, he pub-lished and edited the Pennsylvania Intelligencer. Hewas elected a member of the House of Representa-tives in 1835 and 1836. On the election of GovernorPorter, in 1839, he took editorial charge of the State REV. A. F. Francis Kuhlmann, late rector of theChurch of the Assumption, Lebanon, Pa., was bornin the city of Philadelphia, on Oct. 4, 1845. He waseducated for the C
