Lion (Panthera leo) skull, viewed from the right. The remains of this and other animal skulls (a tiger and several dogs) were found in the moat of the Tower of London, London, UK, during the 1930s. In 2005, the big cat skulls were dated to around the 13th and 15th centuries, and are thought to have come from the Royal Menagerie present there at the time. The skulls are now held in the collections at the Natural History Museum, London, UK.
