Ruins of the ancient temple of Aphrodite, or Venus, in Attica, Greece. The priest house and the temple

The ancient sanctuary of Aphrodite, or Venus was located next to the Holy Road (Iera odos) which connected Athens to Eleusis. It dates to the 5th century BCE. It included a small temple, a house for guests and one for the priests. Visitors used to place offerings to the goddess inside the carved holes on the rock, asking for love, health and fertility.
