'Brittannia roused or the Coalition Monsters Destroyed', 1784. Artist: Thomas Rowlandson
'Brittannia roused or the Coalition Monsters Destroyed', 1784. The giantess Britannia holding Charles James Fox above her head and grasping Lord North around the neck, dashing them to is a satire on the struggle between William Pitt the Younger and Fox before the dissolution of Parliament. The ensuing election was a heavy defeat for Fox and North as Pitt became Prime Minister with a parliamentary majority of 120.
