On Nov. 12th a sale was held at the School buildingfor the purpose of drawing the attention of the public to thework of the School. It was generously contributed to and pat-ronized by the Committees and other friends. Some of the pupilstook pleasure in giving specimens of their handiwork. Nearly$300 was the result of the sale—for which unexpected success. — 9 — credit is due to the interest and energy of the Superintendentand Committees. The reports of last year have been widely distributed.—andfrequent have been the requests for more, and for further particu-lars concerning the plans of the School. For the heliotypes which made the report so attractive, andwhich gave life and interest to dry details, we are indebted firstto Mr. White and Miss Devereux through whom the photographswere obtained. Messrs. Allen and Howell generously reduced thenegatives, and prepared them for heliotyping. The expense of thelatter was defrayed by generous contributions from the friends ofthe School, as will be seen in the Treasurers report. The School is also indebted to Messrs. Torrey, Bright andCapen for the improved appearance of its halls which the newoil cloth gives to them. The Dressmaking room is improved inlike manner by a gift from Rev. Mr. Hortons Society.
