The Ring of Brodgar (Brogar) stone circle and henge monument on the Ness of Brodgar, Mainland, Orkney. Looking WSW from the tall western slab of the stone circle, across the Loch of Stenness to Ward Hill on the island of Hoy. Between are Salt Knowe prehistoric round barrow and the ditch of the henge monument. There were 60 equally spaced standing stones arranged in a perfect circle 125 megalithic yards (340ft, ) across within a circular henge monument originally defined by an earthen bank and rock-cut ditch around 12 feet () deep and 30 feet (9m) wide.
