Methanoic acid, molecular model. Also called formic acid, this chemical is the simplest of the carboxylic acids. It occurs naturally in the venom of ant and bee stings. It is also found in cleaning products. This model shows the atoms (spheres) connected by bonds (rods). One double bond is present. The atoms are colour-coded: carbon (black), oxygen (red), and hydrogen (white).
