Atropine, as every one knows, is used very extensively in thepractice of ophthalmologists ; on one hand its mydriatic effect isrequired, as in several forms of iritis, and upon the other its influ-ence in diminishing the intraocular pressure, as in different formsof keratitis. A more thorough knowledge of the pathologicalprocesses in these affections and of their consequences, as wellas of the physiological action of atropine, permit the conclusiond piiori, that the use of this remedy must be beneficial, whichhas indeed been proved to be the fact.
