These companies, however, will onlytake up these positions after they have opened theengagement in the capacity of skirmishers. The third division forms in echelon on the left,farther in rear than the second line, but will deployonly two battalions of its first brigade ; the remainingtwo battalions of this brigade wTill remain in columnbehind the left wing, and the whole of the second bri-gade will be massed ready for movement.
