He died January 31, wife passed away on her birthday, July 6, 1848, at the age of sixty-nineyears. William Sparks was a most estimable citizen, honored and respectedby all who knew him, and both he and his wife were lifelong members ofthe Baptist church. The father of Mrs. Sparks, Rev. Joshua Palmer, well deserves mentionin this article. He and the Rev. Miner Thomas were among the notedpioneer Baptist preachers of this part of Indiana. Joshua Palmer was anative of England, and served on an English ship at sea, for three years, andthen came to the United States when a very young man.
