AN ODD ELECTRICAL ACCIDENT FROM A BROKENTROLLEY WIRE The accompanying illustrations show all that was left ofone of the Wheeling Traction Companys cars after pass-ing through a peculiar electrical accident a short time agowhile en route between Moundsville and Wheeling. Theline is single track and the trolley wire parted after thesouth bound car had passed. The north bound car raninto the break before the motorman saw it. One end ofthe wire wrapped around the expansion chamber of thehot water heater, which was located on top of the SIDE VIEW OF DAMAGED CAR This caused a short circuit between certain parts of theheating system and other metal parts of the car at severaldifferent places and caused a number of arcs which ignitedthe woodwork of the car. As the car was quite a dis-tance from fire protection of any kind before a fire engineor chemicals could be had from the nearest town, it wasalmost entirely consumed. No passengers on the car wereinjured, as all had ample time to leave the car in safety.
